Feasibility study for wastewater from Gradiste to St. Naum

Economic operator Hidro Energo Engineering from Skopje will run feasibility study for wastewater disposal through Gradiste to St. Naum in Ohrid. Today representatives of the firm together with the Centre for Development of the Southwest planning region held initiative meeting with stakeholders in Ohrid and Struga. On the meeting was jointly concluded that it should be possible to solve the problem of pollution of waters of the lake, especially in summer when the number of visitors increases.

From that point it was discussed that several variants should be included solutions for drainage or local waste water treatment. Participants agreed that after expedient to accede to local wastewater treatment construction of small water treatment plants. Such solutions will be of benefit to the local population because it will be taken into account the criterion of the lowest price that locals have to pay for maintenance of the system.

Under the scheme, the next few months will be passed all phases for qualitative preparation of a feasibility study. It will be held a public hearing with the local population and representatives from the Municipality of Ohrid, inter-municipal company from Ohrid and Struga "Proaqua", "Civil Engineering" and "Water Supply and Sewerage" from Struga. At the end the final document will be presented in front of the Council for development of the South-west planning region.

Feasibility study is part of regional projects which Bureau for regional development has approved for Centre for development of the South-west planning region for 2010.
