Study visit in Koper

High Macedonian delegation, which cost 30 heads of municipalities of Pelagonia, Polog, North-east, South-west and Vardar region, Mangers of the centers for development of planning regions and representatives of GIZ RED Program today were welcomed by the Mayor of Koper, in Republic of Slovenia, Boris Popovic. Before the presents at the Regional Development Agency of Primorska was elaborated the plan for regional development and national funding after year 2014, as well as projects from the region funded from different sources.

Koper is among the three largest and most successful municipalities in Slovenia with an annual budget of about 70 million. Much of the funds are provided by the European funds allocated for financing projects of energy efficiency. For this purpose is prepared regional strategy and action plan, prepared by the regional agency for energy efficiency GOLEA.

One of perhaps the most sophisticated landfill in Europe for managing with the waste is in the city of Isola just 5 km from Koper, on the Adriatic coast. During the visit were presented local structures for management and processing of waste, as well as technology and mode of operation.
